बाल अधिकार सम्मेलन के अनुसार बच्चों के अधिकार हर प्रकार के भेदभाव ( प्रजाति , रंग , लिंग , भाषा , धर्म , राजनीतिक या अन्य विचारधाराओं , राष्ट्र , नैतिक या सामाजिक उद्भव , गरीब या अक्षमता , दानों अथवा कोई एक पर आधारित ) के विरुद्ध संरक्षित हैं। प्रत्येक बच्चे को जीवन जीने का , बने रहने का एवं विकास का मूलभूत अधिकार है।
